Back when Jackson was 2, he was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Shortly after that, he was diagnosed with a severe case of Sensory Processing Disorder. Due to his sensory limitations, Jackson’s diet became an issue. We completed a year of food therapy and learned to implement what they taught us.

We also saw a pattern of behavior. Jack only ate foods that were crunchy, meltable, or required little chewing. He definitely couldn’t eat foods that had multiple textures such as fresh fruits or vegetables (solid fruit but once you bite it releases juice). Our solution was to buy expensive baby food pouches, but we didn’t like that we couldn’t control what was in them. Then we switched to buying freeze dried fruits but didn’t like that they added preservatives. Our solution? Make our own freeze dried goodies for him!
